Work shoes and standards

Work shoes are the shoes used by workers in order to avoid accidents at work. As a key feature they have the finger guard. Of course, the protective midsole and the non-slip outsole also play an important role. Based on the security they provide, they are given the appropriate degree of protection, according to the European specification EN ISO 20345:2011. The table below gives a detailed overview of the feature codes as well as the required (minimum) safety performance.

SB: Basic safety shoe with metal or synthetic polymer finger guard

S1: SB + closed in the heel area + anti-static properties + anti-vibration heel

S1P: S1 + anti-puncture midsole

S2: S1 + resistance to water penetration and absorption ( waterproofing )

S3: S2 + anti-puncture midsole

P: Resistance to perforation of the sole ≥ 1100 Ν

E: Absorption energy of the heel ≥ 20 J

A: Resistive bounce between 0.1 and 1000 MΩ

C: Conductive shoe < 0,1 MΩ

WRU: Resistance to penetration and water absorption (upper part) ≥ 60 min.

WR: Waterproof shoe ≤ 3 cm2

Cl: Cold insulation Test at -20 oC

HI: Heat Insulation Test at 150 oC

HRO: Outer sole with resistance to contact heat Test at 300 oC

I: Electrically insulated shoe of classes 0 and 00

M: Metatarsal finger protection (only for EN ISO 20345) ≤ 40 mm (No 41/42)

AN: Ankle protection ≤ 20 kN

CR: Cut resistance ≥ 2,5
